Asynchronous Replication

Replication for applications and services with acceptable Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). The most commonly used data replication method at the storage systems level. Async replica is using LUNs and Data Stores mirroring between either SAN storage arrays or between hypervisors. When data is being written to the LUN on the source site where the production environment is located then this data is being placed in the journal or logged for subsequent replication to the secondary array located on the remote site. RTO is being defined as a special time period when data is being actually moved from journal to secondary site. This time interval can be configured from several minutes to several hours, normally between 15-30 minutes range.
