What is a dedicated server?
Dedicated server, or bare-metal server, is a compute instance where all the physical resources of the machine are available to run your applications. Dedicated server provides isolated environment and assures that server resources cannot be interrupted by “noisy neighbors” which can sometimes happen in a virtual environment. Virtual server reserves portion of the resources to carry virtualization technology overhead. Instead, a dedicated server allows you to unleash the full potential of resources like memory, storage and compute. In cloud computing terminology such solution is typically named as a “bare metal” highlighting an efficiency that dedicated server provides compared to any other resource deployment methods.
